The point that it's not effective is interesting. I don't know what the empirics are on that. It did seem like part of achieving gay rights was just waiting for homophobes to die.
I don't either. But my impression is that when you've got the left (in some broad nebulous sense) shouting something loudly and angrily, the people most likely to take it on board are the rest of the left, not the people on the other side.
And "sexuality is immutable and fixed" is a thing that fucks up a lot of queer people, and conversion camps sure seem to still exist and people still keep sending their kids to them, so I'm at least somewhat reluctant to take it on faith that we need this for politics reasons.
