What strikes me as offensive is the idea that the only defense of queerness is "it's not my fault, I didn't choose to be like this". The point that it's not effective is interesting. I don't know what the empirics are on that. It did seem like part of achieving gay rights was just waiting for homophobes to die.

I don't either. But my impression is that when you've got the left (in some broad nebulous sense) shouting something loudly and angrily, the people most likely to take it on board are the rest of the left, not the people on the other side.
