Yeah, 2 for me. Spent a long time on /b/ until I found tumblr, and on redpill until I found Less Wrong. I had a strong sense that "what I was being told about myself" around sexuality and attraction was wrong, but didn't have the tools to break out of that myself

/b/ for all their casual usage of slurs was a reasonably queer-friendly place when I was there - everyone got insulted as much as anyone else and once you learn not to react to slurs and insults pretty much everyone had a level platform

Yeah. This tracks a lot of what I've heard from others about /b/. I think for a lot of people it gives them a community at a time in their life when nobody else would have them, and the culture of the place reflects that but also is surprisingly supportive?

Yeah, I read an article a while back that the point of insulting people's particular characteristic wasn't about prejudice - it was a playful signal pushing against "identity" in general. The point was to be homogeneously Anonymous in general
