Twitter! In high school, were you the weird kid no one knew what to make of?

In a sense, I was the same. As I've said elsewhere, being a shy, bookish, non-sporty, non-macho guy as a teenager was inviting the label "gay" when I grew up, and at that time/in that place that was a beating offence.
For me it was mostly that I was an obvious outsider - generally joined schools midway through, had a weird accent, and was nerdy and awkward on top of that. Lots of things making me an easy target.

I moved around schools every couple of years, or more, depending on my age. High school was the first time I stayed anywhere longer than two years- but I started at the beginning of school years and eventually got to be very good at making friends and very bad at keeping them...
