I don't know? In my head, the general assumption of most people if a man mostly has female friends is that he's non straight in some way. On TV, for example, the safe gay male friend is A Thing. Maybe this is less of a thing for Gen Z?

Could be! I'm not Gen Z though. Also, my dad has always had a strong tendency towards having mostly female friends, and I've never got any sense that he felt especially unusual in this regard. I think possibly TV is just lying about this.

I got a lot of shit about being "gay" at secondary school simply for being insufficiently macho. Luckily once school ends you can just choose not to associate with the stupider men out there.
