Apparently I'm getting massively owned by my morning pages about once a week right now. I don't know if this rate feels too low or too high.

Anything specific you'd recommend on what morning pages are? Think i get the gist from googling but wondered if you were doing a specific type, or something

Nothing specific, no. I just write two pages in a journal every morning. I got it from a friend reading "The Artist's Way" but I never actually read the book and skimming the two pages where they're mentioned didn't teach me much.

There's definitely a skillset to therapeutic journaling but I just kinda accreted it over time and assembled it out of general therapy and writing skills so I'm not sure what to recommend on that front.

Thanks, sounds like I've basically got the idea from random internet pages then. might give this a try I'm fine with writing, don't have the therapy skillset at all, but can see what happens

probably will skip writing longhand as I hate it and just fundamentally DON'T WANNA. Looks like it might be an important part of the process? But if I have to do that I won't start it at all, so will just type for now

I think typing is fine. I get value out of doing it longhand, but it's definitely better to do it typed than to not do it! RE therapy skills, might find it useful to read https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/eccTPEonRe4BAvNpD/the-felt-sense-what-why-and-how … ? This is kinda the foundational skill for good therapeutic introspection

Ah ok, I do actually have reasonable skills at getting in touch with felt sense, ahve read this post and the focusing book etc. Not so good at felt shift after. I guess I was thinking 'therapy' in more institutional/professional sense, which I haven't done at all

Ah, no, I mostly meant identifying and explaining your feelings. I've not done much formal therapy either - I prefer self-directed work and working with friends.
