Hmm. Maybe carbs make me anxious. This seems weird. Is this a thing that happens?

I've been eating a bit more carbs than usual the last few days. My anxiety has also been up, which I had assumed was (and is still plausibly) because of other reasons, but it seems to spike right after eating them.

Does eating some protein with the carbs help? Blood sugar issues can affect all sorts of things, so if it is something like hypoglycemia, eating protein can even it out. Or, there might be a food allergy to a particular thing you ate. That can raise the heartrate.

Hmm good question. It definitely seems to be more of a thing today than it was yesterday, and I had minimal protein with it today. Let me try eating some protein and see what happens.

I think I'm going to tentatively say... maybe. Seems to have helped a bit but hard to distinguish from placebo effect / regression to the mean. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Yes those can be tough to distinguish, especially with a single data point. You're welcome, and I'll add another suggestion: check to see if electrolytes help. Coconut water is a good source, or tri-salts, or whatever you have on-hand with potassium and magnesium in it.
