I've been watching Hellsing recently and granted I'm not that familiar with anime but it just seems incredibly strange. Some of this is because it's even more "Is this what you actually think Europeans are like??" than usual but I'm also just a bit confused what it's trying to do

Hellsing is just an amazing amalgation of rule of cool, weird interpretations of western canon and Japan. It’s so dumb, I can’t help but love it.
