I am a little bit. I think of 30 as the age when people start to have shit a bit more figured out and a lot of the interesting stuff really starts happening, so I'd be kinda reluctant to consider it midlife and would probably think of that as more like 40-60, but I care less.

it seems common enough that people feel 'more boring' as they get older, right? not to mention biological decline possibly if one is very career/ambition inclined, or had signif psychological problems, 30+ can seem more interesting, but that isn't vast maj of people!

I think most people's 30s are pretty good and almost everyone I know had/is having a more interesting time in their 30s than their 20s. Most people's 20s are the period where everything is a bit shit because they're in the real world but can't deal with it.

i think many people are happier in their 30s than teens/20s, but that seem to come at the cost of emotional/intellectual intensity/curiousity?1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -
I'll grant I hang with an odd crowd but my experience is absolutely the opposite. Your 30s are when you acquire the necessary chill to do all the really fun stuff without fucking it up.

Well, chill isn't quite right. Some combination of chill and competence. What
@m_ashcroft said about being a more complete human being is pretty close to what I mean.2 replies 0 retweets 1 like -
yeah being less of an idiot there are a lot of cool things that I could've done with my exgf (I was with her through ages 22–29) traveling, parties, closer socializing with friends, creating things together, adventure I didn't because I was a fucking lazy narrowminded idiot

not gonna make that mistake in my next relationship(s) I really feel like I can see much better what would be fun, and I'm much more likely to try things to see *if* I'll find them fun I have way better values, and I'll have better yet in the future better = more fully living

then again, ok, you could say that I'm one of the fucked up ones, that normal people get this shit figured out 10 years earlier and then can do this stuff *before* they get bald and their joints start to ache randomly, and then they get boring

As a side note I think "the fucked up ones" usually end up better at this sort of thing than "the normal people" because we start off shit at it and have to learn to get good and once we get to the point of normality we've got all this momentum and might as well keep going.
