One of the weird nice things about the pandemic is that I've seen a lot more of my face on Zoom calls and the like and have been going "Hmm I'm kinda hot". I've just switched webcams and oh. Huh. Maybe I understand what people were talking about now.

One of my favorite zoom experiences is when I accidentally had my camera/window position set up differently across my monitors I was suddenly hit with this really strong profile of my face w/ my beard at just the right length/angle and I thought "this guy looks like a wizard"

Good equipment can make reality feel like that. The first time I bought a quality mirrorless camera lens, I was just blown away. It's just a piece of glass! How can reality look so good through a different one?
