why do you care about someone else’s weight

because i care about my own weight and treat the entire world as a projection of and through myself

That seems like a problem you're not bad for having but should work on improving to me.

yes whenever i talk to you i feel like you're doing the rationalist thing where you build towers in the sky, moral frameworks according to which you *should* act rather than engaging with your base level emotions. trying to be above the world rather than in it.

but being above the world and above emotions and the fabric of consciousness is fundamentally impossible because thats where all those towers you build sit

I'm pretty sure this isn't what I'm doing, given that most of my thoughts on the subject of emotions were built up in the course of doing some pretty heavy and successful work on getting better at them?

I'm not making some deep philosophical point here, I'm saying that projecting your preferences onto other people is a jerk move.

the only way to understand the world is through projection! the inner and outer are one! you cannot possibly understand something except as a shard of yourself!

OK. In that case, figure out how to project in a way that stops you from being a jerk to the parts of yourself that are also other people whose autonomy you should be respecting.

Speaking of projecting, I really don't think I'm the one who is dressing up his refusal to confront his own engagement with the world by building towers in the sky. I just actually respect other people's decisions about their own lives and want you to too.

but i didn't disrespect anyone's decisions. haven't said anything to anyone about being fat or whatever. i was asking a bunch of what if questions. i think you are disengaged from the parts of yourself that sometimes do that and are projecting it onto me.
