Mmmm, like, how to cultivate a sense of inner calm and confidence in the face of intense psycho-sensory experiences, so i can enjoy them more fully. Partly as a way of managing my simultaneous tendency toward sensitivity & desire for depth/wildness/adventure

Any tips? Recommended reading? This sounds like a thing I could use right now.

Carolyn Elliott's "Existential Kink" is the one that comes to mind right now!

like, when you're having a really intense experience, breathing deeply can transmute the sensation. there's a quote, "fear is excitement without the breath," which i think conveys it nicely.

Hmm. I've actually read and enjoyed Existential Kink. Maybe I need to reread those bits because they don't seem to have been the ones that stuck. The deep breathing is a good tip though, thank you.

Yeahhh, she doesn't make it the point of the book, exactly? but it's in there. Np!

While we're here, any other EK-like books you'd recommend? It's something of an outlier on my shelves and I enjoyed it enough that I'd kinda like to explore from that point.

Hmmm, TBH I'm not sure. I think she has a list of references in the back of EK that would probably be good places to look next?

Yeah that's vaguely been my plan but for some reason none of the recommendations felt like they landed for me as something I wanted to pick up. I'll have another dig. Thanks again.
