What if impostor syndrome is only there because if you believed you were good at something you might try doing that and maybe make a mistake & then someone would call you out on that, which would be conflict, which is what you really want to avoid, so: better to think you're dumb

this seems correct, the first tweet involved the notion that you're trying to avoid attempting something that you might be judged for but that's not what impostor syndrome is about, it's about the fear of being judged for already being a fake

What if fearing being a fake is your mind's elephant-in-the-brain-style trick to ensure you avoid attempting stuff you think you'll be shamed for though (I guess there are too many areas where the brain *doesn't* do this for this theory to hold. Still curious re: your thoughts!)
