Worth bearing in mind that everyone online also exists offline, and people tend to congregate with others who think like them. If you haven't seen it IRL maybe that's because you don't hang out in those spaces?

I think there's a difference between being very online and having bought into The Discourse. I hang out in primarily queer poly social groups with a large sex party scene, and this is one of the places where the discourse goes to hang out offline

It's pretty much going to happen in any IRL community with a sufficiently high concentration of social power in this sort of nerd. A lot of universities (especially undergraduates). Some subsets of tech. Activist communities.
