1. Is having sexual fantasies about someone you know but do not have an IRL sexual relationship with creepy? 2. Which binary gender are you / least badly describes you?

This question prompted by a discussion with a friend in which we took different stances and were each non-judgemental but vaguely surprised by the other's stance.

want this the topic of one of the sokal squared hoax papers? besides, how do 1&2 work if one is just starting to date someone else? solving for equilibrium means they would never have sex!

I think there's a big difference between having sexual thoughts about someone and actively fantasising about them. If anything I'm *more* reluctant to do the latter with someone who I've just started dating.

interesting! i'd be bothered if someone i wanted to bang wasn't fantasizing about me. still, where does one draw the line between sexual thoughts and fantasy?

I'm not sure exactly where the line is but I think if they're masturbating while doing it they've definitely crossed it. With the case of someone I'm hoping to be sexual with but not yet, it's more about not wanting to create undue disappointment if things work out differently?

fair enough. i've actually never been disappointed in that way. even when i start out with porn my thoughts usually turn to a current or ex partner. does this mean that to you fantasizing about someone you don't know in real life isn't creepy?

Yeah I'm not sure it's a real risk. It's more a general felt sense that it's somehow inappropriate? I think fantasising about a real person who you're never going to interact with is basically harmless. I don't usually do it, and I maybe feel a bit weird if I try, but not creepy
