I mean I don't *mind* when a book is well written and truthful, but it feels like it's setting a rather high bar for how useful the book has to be - it puts you into Proper Reading mode.

But with something like EK where the author is like "I believe in literal magic and anyway here is how to find having crushing debt spectacularly hot." you can just be "lol sure" and roll with it.
