Knowing about it in advance was useless to me. Taking it seriously about a month before everyone else was allowed me to talk my parents out of some very high risk behaviour and anticipate and get ahead of some shop shortages

There was an argument - not so much with them as with the family members they would have been seeing - in which I was like "No do not do this you will die" and others were somewhere between "eh" and "Genie you're overselling this". Took less than a week for them to eat crow.

Admittedly this was partly because catching COVID-19 myself was a very effective rhetorical move on my part. (For technical reasons there was basically always all but a 0% chance of my avoiding it)
