This is a fair point. In which case I amend my position to "Running an adblocker is ethical in the same way that resisting someone's attempts to manipulate you are ethical: It doesn't matter if they think you've consented to it unless you've actually consented."

I mean TBH my actual position is that I'm gonna do it regardless and anything I say on the subject is a justification after the fact. But I am really resistant to the idea that I owe anyone my attention.
