Honestly the most shocking thing about this for me is that I had no idea that Rowling was actually still writing. I knew about the first book she wrote under that pen name but had no idea there were so many of them.https://twitter.com/PinkNews/status/1305523700238815238 …

Looks like the books sold pretty well; they were also adapted for a BBC show which had fairly good reviews for its first two series and mostly lukewarm ones for its third. https://www.thebookseller.com/news/rowlings-galbraith-sales-reach-15m-314266 …

I think it's a self fulfilling thing. people read them, but they read them because they know they're by JK Rowling. the first in the series only sold 1,500 copies under a pen name, and then sales skyrocketed when they revealed it was actually by Rowling https://www.theguardian.com/books/2013/jul/15/jk-rowling-cuckoos-calling-bestseller …pic.twitter.com/vfQd1Ds8iE

Yeah I remember that from the first book but I naively assumed that this wouldn't be enough to sustain a series given that she's not actually a very good writer.

You mean the Strike novels? They're excellent. First and fourth best so far. The tv series is good. Haven't seen the latest season.

The audiobooks are superb. Robert Glenister performs them brilliantly.
