No worries, I might just be a bit grumpy today so more prone to taking it as adversarial, sorry. On reflection I actually think you're right: My reasons for this position are highly progressive ones, but there are plenty of other political reasons to come to the same conclusion
It's certainly also a very libertarian position. I'm not sure I'd have considered it a conservative one exactly.

I sort of lump hardcore originalist readings of the constitution into conservative (small c) vs Conservative as a current political sphere, though the overlap of both and libertarian is pretty solid.

Ah, I'm not in the US, so I lump politics based on hardcore readings of the constitution as confusing rather than conservative.
