There's a particularly unpleasant experience that it seems like most people who are (cis?) male feminist nerds have at least some of, which is that they've internalised the idea that their being attracted to women is in some sense morally bad.

seconding this but also elaborating: Sexual trauma was a *major* focus of 2nd-wave feminism, and the ideas/lingo crept into pop consciousness via the culture war over 50yrs It was pursued aggressively, and aggression isn't friendly to nuance (esp when motivated by trauma)

so the War On Sex Offenders, in its haste to dress the cultural wound, cheaped out on complex views & boundaries in order to cover more ground faster. this led to men not really learning healthier sexual expression, so they were just nervous around feminists And now, The Gamers:
