Speculative thought: There may be a lot of things we think of as gendered which are actually universals with different gendered manifestations that prevent us from recognising their universal nature. The prompting example was "taking care of others" but I'm sure there are more.

I believe the confusion comes when folks don’t realize we ALL embody and are composed of the elements of all “genders” (ie, poles) if each trait. It’s a scale not a binary. And so folks get offended/defensive when they say nurturing is a “feminine” trait.

“Men can be feminine too” no shit! Ha theyre diff things. We are all ALL. And we are all DIFFERENT & we are all different things at different times. Doesn’t mean it’s not a “feminine” trait.

I agree with this but I think there's a difference between gender norms and masculine and feminine traits. Norms are more about social behaviours - who will get rewarded or punished for what - and tend to result in specific entrained behaviours regardless of underlying traits.

IMO that’s just a product of the bigger (& so less discussed but simpler) problem of folks not understanding/appreciating the subjective nature of reality. Putting their subjective lens on to the world and demanding IT follow THEM rather than THEM understanding-so-to-follow IT.

Sounds like an explain-everything theory to me.
