I agree with this but for me at least I think the larger part of it is that a lot of the experience both of failing and being forced to conform to one's gendered roles is quite traumatic, so processing trauma necessarily requires coming to terms with those experiences.
right, I agree with that :) I guess I interpreted "working on feeling like shit" as generic "go have therapy" which did not seem immediately applicable
I think almost no therapists will directly point to this as the problem but it's a sort of natural consequence of therapy-like things done properly while also carefully examining gender.
