I think about this a lot, really. what i mean is that when something traumatizes you, you have an empathetic and supportive parent to talk it through with in lieu of a therapist

This doesn't help nearly as much as you might imagine when the thing that is traumatising you is that you're being put through the endless meat grinder of the school system and there's not much your parents can do to fix that.

on whether therapy helps at the individual level at all - I think it's much more useful to have a whole bunch of therapy skills in the water in a community than therapy is for individuals themselves.
