Mind expanding on masculinism v. manosphere?

Mostly I think the manosphere defines itself as in opposition to feminism rather than in cooperation with it, lacks a psychologically healthy foundation, and contains a lot of toxic subcultures (such as PUA) that poison the whole pool.

Like I think a better starting point would basically be "Cool, feminism has done a lot of great work for analysing the societal consequences of gender norms, but it's written mostly by women so lacks an understanding of men's lived experience, can we fix that?"

Why do you think men aren’t doing the work of supplying this work?

Seems like maybe a. We’re told we have it good so analysis is detrimental. B. Same reason there aren’t as many male social workers? Interpersonal or social dynamics as low inclination.

I think it's a mix of lack of conditions that make it easy to do the work and a fair bit of opposition on all sides - conventional masculinity doesn't make it easy to admit weakness, and a lot (not most IME) of feminists tend to be quite unsympathetic to the program.

Like a lot of why I'm chatting on an alt now is that I tend to be a bit circumspect talking about masculinity specific issues on main because it skirts the edge of saying things that will get me cancelled.

Given how dominating we are in any domain we decide is important to us, I have a hard time with theories that set the context outside our own agency

Do men dominate any domain they decide is important to them, or do they decide that any domain that they dominate is what's important to them?

Hm. Two thoughts. 1. Former I think. Masculine energy is specifically and universally set up for this purpose, no? 2. Given THIS context specifically, of chasing balance w feminine, masculine is forever at a disadvantage. Shit. I need to rethink lol.

I think fatherhood is a good example to consider. A lot of fathers would really like more involvement in their kids' lives and it turns out that this is really hard and that they are constantly pushed out of it by a general culture that considers mothers as the "real" parent.

There is a lot of individual will to be involved, but a) Masculinity norms seem to make it hard for men to admit the relevant emotional needs and organise around them and b) Women really do seem to close ranks around this and oppose individual men.
