      I do see how it’s annoying when people adopt aspects of a culture that were frowned upon or considered “ghetto” when brown/black people did it, but considered “cool” when white people do it, but it seems that Adele’s just joining in on the culture practice of where she’s visiting

      I think an underacknowledged split is that people who are native to and live within a culture often don't care about and actively encourage things that could be labelled cultural appropriation, it's people who are part of that culture but embedded within another one who care.

      e.g. Japanese-Americans often care about cultural appropriation, but people from Japan love it when others "appropriate" their culture because it creates a much larger market for aspects of it (e.g. this is a big thing with kimono making).

      https://www.currentaffairs.org/2017/09/the-question-of-cultural-appropriation … is still my favourite piece on the subject and about trying to triangulate which are the bad bits and more precisely label them..
