The weird thing is that the more academic research on the occult I read the more realize that it’s a lot weirder to NOT have spiritual beliefs or openness to the supernatural than the inverse, actually The world is weird

i like to think i’m pretty open-minded but the occult is where it ends for me, idk, “if it works, why ain’t ya rich” kind of objections are probably central
Divination is a robustness strategy - it doesn't actually tell the future, it helps you hedge against the fact that you can't. Robustness strategies don't help you get rich, they help you avoid getting poor, which is less dramatic and noticeable.
