I kinda buy the argument that the democrats are just going to continue to run whoever the hell they like because they can rely on people voting against the republicans, and that this is morally equivalent to hostage-taking and a "no negotiating with terrorists" policy applies.
But I don't get to vote in US elections so my opinion doesn't matter much anyway.
