While designing a religion, it occurs to me that a big problem with Christianity is how serious and full of itself it is. It's missing a Trickster. Imagine Christianity, but it's Canon that the Holy Spirit is a mischievous bastard.

Is it missing it? I think Satan often fills the role of trickster, he's just vilified for it.

Maybe not in the canon, but just off the top of my head "Devil Came Down to Georgia" (song) and "How Much Land Does A Man Need?" (Tolstoy story) are both clear examples of Satan acting as Trickster.

Depends on the type of christianity I guess; I grew up fundamentalist, that type of cultural toying around w the devil as a character was seen as blasphemy. It’d be nice to have canon trickster, If only to make the fundies lighten up a bit

Idk, feels pretty deceptive to be like "hey murder your son to prove your devotion to me" and then "wait stop it was just a prank bro"

Honestly the story of Isaac is a perfect illustration of two things: 1. If you actually read the bible it's very obvious that God is the villain. 2. He's not even one of the cool fun ones.
