(Which I actually endorse despite not being an EA and thinking that utilitarianism is an awful moral system - it's much better at a policy level than an individual level)

Yes, EA provides some useful tools for individuals who are not utilitarian even though it's primarily aimed at utilitarians. But yeah it was a real revelation for me that being, say, the CFO of a startup could be a more altruistic career choice than being a social worker.
