I've noticed since I've gotten married that we follow gender roles much more than I'd expect. My feminism meant I wanted us to just do what we're best at and wanted that to be nontraditional but it turns out we're best at the things we've been socialized to do. 
My impression is that for most people this comes up not just in frequency with which it's done but also the standard to which it's done though - they do it, but they do it sufficiently well that the person with higher standards kinda wishes they hadn't.

e.g. from personal experience I find I get far more frustrated with flatmates who wash things up badly than with flatmates who don't do their washing up promptly - the latter I can learn to deal with, the former I end up having to redo their washing or become a nag.
