What if the reason why women do most of the emotional labour is that we don't count it as emotional labour when men do it? (I was surprisingly reluctant to tweet this even on alt)

My gut says I disagree, but that might just be lazily buying stereotypes of how common deadbeat boyfriends are, and either way good job tweeting the thing you were afraid to tweet

I think there are a lot of emotionally dysfunctional people who don't carry their side of the relationship, and certainly a lot of those people are men. I could believe it is more common for those people to be men but am not confident either way. (Cont)

But I think there's a significant difference between "of the people who don't do necessary emotional labour, more of them are men" and the sort of "men don't do enough emotional labour" that gets talked about.
