What if the reason why women do most of the emotional labour is that we don't count it as emotional labour when men do it? (I was surprisingly reluctant to tweet this even on alt)

I still find the comparison of modifying one’s behavior/emotions to better integrate into the various contingencies and necessities of daily experience to labor to be mystifying
In the original context it's because of how many jobs have this kind of thing as an essential and under acknowledged part of the role, but it's been generalised. I don't think it's unreasonable though - it's hard exhausting work that falls disproportionately on some people.
