I'm having a low mood kind of day and sort of want to talk about it, but I don't know how and who to even talk to about it

Would writing it down help? I often find it's useful to process feelings with a pen and pad of paper by just writing down lots of stuff about them. Sometimes this is prior to talking to someone about it and just helps clarify, but often it's enough on its own.

Thank you, that's actually a really good idea! I don't always want to burden friends/family with it when I know everyone is having bad days at the moment, but writing it down could be useful.

For what it's worth, I find that often people mind being "burdened" with your problems way less than you'd expect - being complained at feels like hard work, but talking through someone's problem's with them is often less so, and is a positive part of the relationship.

Also frankly it's sometimes really nice to have problems to think about that you've got a bit of emotional distance from.

This is very true! I like helping my friends when they have a problem/need advice, so I'm not sure why I see it differently when it comes to sharing my own stuff.

I don't have any particularly satisfying explanation for why, but I think that's very normal.

Writing it down helps to me. But talking to people as well. I know the feeling of being a bother but every time I overcome the energy barrier I found that people relate to your problems (we’re not alone) and they actually like to talk about it, as a relief for them too.

Yup, entirely agreed! I like to do both though - they're good for slightly different things and complement each other well. Writing about it in public (blog posts, twitter threads) is also a good halfway between the two.

(whether this is viable of course depends on the problem and how anonymised your account is)

I think it started because the covid stats for the UK were missing for two days and it made me nervous
which just opened up a space for me to start dwelling on things.0 replies 0 retweets 3 likes
