Part of me wants to be nice to furries and respect their.. whatever and part of me is forever mad at running into fox dick when I was like ten years old and how I continue to run into various sorts of furry porn that I JUST DO NOT WANT TO SEE. Even when not looking for porn adfdf

I feel like it's possible to do both, but I agree this is an annoying problem.

There is no such a thing as cognitive dissonance when you have irony

I find nothing really wrong with furries and never understood why people hate then so much. Weird kink but nothing crazy.

A lot of furry hate started as a meme on Something Awful—furs were the group to use as a punching bag. Partly it was due to anti-queer/kink sentiment, but at a deeper level, SA was a fount of irony poisoning, and I think they couldn’t abide the unabashed earnestness & inclusion.

it’s almost like people don’t actually have principles and just bully whoever their social context tells them is acceptable targets

this made rounds a few months back but there would be no cognitive dissonance if the furry hate is just a mask for queer hate that's more acceptable in the open, since furries are disproportionately LGBTQhttps://medium.com/@soatok/if-you-hate-furries-youre-anti-lgbt-cce35a948a57 …

Maybe, but I don't think that's what's going on in most of the cases I've personally encountered (which are generally not at the level of saying they *hate* furries)
