My thought process on him went from "He pattern matches to an awful person" to "But he doesn't seem *so* bad and he hangs out with other people who pattern match that way who I think are OK" to "Oh but also he's intensely irritating so I don't really care"

I've vaguely thought about reading his book with HP and I may well still do it. I think there's probably some reasonable stuff in his criticisms, but I think there's probably a lot of stuff I'd disagree with in there too and mostly prefer not to read people who irritate me.

This is roughly my impression. Broadly positive impression of HP for the most part, but most of the others... it's not impossible they have important things to say, but they sure don't make me very interested in hearing it from them.
