But either way it might be useful to consider the following hypothetical worlds: * Nurses are paid current software developer salaries, nothing else changes * Software developers are paid current nurse salaries, nothing else changes Who benefits from this? Who is harmed?

Does it help if you think of your salary as mostly being about extracting money from people who have more of it than you?

Like, when I charge a company a stupid amount of money for a day rate or something sure I *could* charge them less, but they're getting at least as much value out of my time as I'm charging them, and charging them less would just result in $MEGACORP having more money.
