I'm aware that licensing systems are rife for abuse and mostly just reinforce entrenched power but then I see people say things like "Majority rule should not be controversial in a democracy" and I wonder how bad it would *actually* be to require a license to have opinions?

So do I apparently, haha. Opting in to a collective society might have some merits, but would require drastic reconfiguration of all sorts of institutions, I think. I typically fall back to more direct forms of democracy as a means of diminishing acts of parasitism.
