I'm aware that licensing systems are rife for abuse and mostly just reinforce entrenched power but then I see people say things like "Majority rule should not be controversial in a democracy" and I wonder how bad it would *actually* be to require a license to have opinions?

I'm generally pretty pro-democracy but people's opinions about democracy reliably make me question that when I remember that they're allowed to vote.

Kinda agree but you'd better be pretty damn sure you got the existing laws right before you implement such a restriction and also that those laws are on the right side of history on every issue.
