Hmm this doesn't feel that different from verbal thinking to me. There's a kind of cluster where speaking, verbal thinking, writing, and reading are all kinda expressions of the same experience with different aspects highlighted and different external manifestations.
It's like the difference between reading out loud vs reading in your head. They're different but there's continuity between them.
