Q fr @GlennBurnsWSB General Yeager, was there one particular aircraft in your opinion, that really changed the course of aviation history? A: Is this a trick question?

Really should include the X-15 and the SR-71. But neither of those 2 would have existed without the X-1.

Hello Mrs Y .. I agree.. I'm from the place that Lindbergh took off for Paris.. Perhaps my bias.. the time-line was my opinion.. When I think of it, If the Wrights didn't fly, others would have (or did), Lindbergh, someone beat his record two weeks later..

The Wright made Smithsonian promise that if they ever declared someone else to be the first to fly powered airplane, must return that famous Wright plane. Even with the records & awards, Chuck has still not gotten his due recognition for what he did for USA. BEST PILOT EVER!!

Lindberg became the biggest megastar on the planet at the time. I would posit that while he did not advance technology he did greatly advance aviation awareness
