My father survived being strafed by an ME262 in Erlangen, Germany. He never heard the jet or the bullets until the struck the concrete next to him. He figures some hills saved his life, because the pilot had no real time to aim well.

No. The rounds missed him by a few feet. A handful of bullets in a straight line. He heard the bullets strike, spun around to see where they came from and then heard the jet roar past overhead, climbing to clear the hills to the south.
