My father survived being strafed by an ME262 in Erlangen, Germany. He never heard the jet or the bullets until the struck the concrete next to him. He figures some hills saved his life, because the pilot had no real time to aim well.
Q: What was the best German fighter you faced? Me262? Ta-152/FW190D? A: The bigger a challenge you can make the enemy seem, the bigger a hero you are for hacking it. All were challenging :-) 3 FW 190s shot me down. I got some good licks in tho' #F190 #P51 #WWII #Aviationhistory
