My best friend’s father was Col. Carlos Urrutia II, who flew P-51’s in Korea (and a Texas A&M Aggie like me) and he would recount some incredible stories about an incredible aircraft. And the ground crew who absolutely loved it. Thank you for your service @GenChuckYeager

General, did you ever get to fly any US Navy prop-driven fighters of that era, such as the F4U-4 Corsair or the F8F Bearcat?
-
My dad flew F4U for USMC and (if I remember correctly) F2H Banshee. Dist. Flying Cross awarded 1952-ish in Korea.

When I lived in Illinois, my dog got loose and was halfway to the horizon when a P-51 flew over on its way to the annual airshow at Scott AFB. The dog turned and ran home full speed. (So it's good for herding pitbulls, too.)

My brother Chuck wrote a book about one P-51 nicknamed ‘Sierra Sue II.’ It will be doing a legacy flyover in Minneapolis just before the Super Bowl with a few other WWII airplanes. Worth watching for!
