Dec 17, 1903. It's been 114 years since Wright Brothers 1st powered flight. I met Orville - he was impressed we broke the sound barrier just 44 yrs later.

My grandpa remembers seeing Orville in a parade. In TWO GENERATIONS of living memory we went from manned flight to maybe interplanetary travel.

We've landed things on Mars and Venus in the 1970s so it's true. A few generations between "heavier than air flight is impossible" to "air loads are infinite at the speed of sound" to "here's pictures from the surface of another planet".

You were already the coolest but you’ve now surpassed even yourself General! Oh to be a fly on the wall watching Mr Wright watching you do a think he could not possibly have dreamed of. Wonderful. Thank you!

Quite extraordinary when you look at the timeline of manned flight. Even just the WW2 years - we started with Biplanes (well, some nations did) and ended with jets and rockets!
