Q: Which aircraft gave the greatest sense of acceleration of all the types you've flown. A: Probably X-1. Funny story: 2005 Edwards AFB air show. Brass wanted to show off F-22 to P-51 fr slow flight & acceleration. but in P-51 I took off in front of crowd - F-22 lagged. Heh heh

The best version had that Rolls Royce Merlin 66 engine. The F-22 only has 2 Pratt & Whitney F119-PW-100 turbofans. Kinda the Briggs & Stratton of the jet world.
