Every time you publish something, I think of what I was doing at that age. And, to be honest, sir, it's depressing. But I'm glad you remind of us of what the world was like then, what true heroism and courage and conviction mean. "Thank you for your service" seems inadequate.

General, is this really you? I only ask because you tweeted this a short while ago. You're one of my childhood heroes! Still are, actually!

Chuck, it would be hard to count how many times you’ve been a hero for this country. Please accept my humble gratitude for your service.

Oscar Coen was arguably the first American Fighter pilot to return to flying after escaping occupied France in Dec 1941. He flew for No. 71 [Eagle] Squadron. Which later became part of the 4th Fighter Group.pic.twitter.com/Yzdr5hyenD

Here is a photo in April ‘44. Oscar Coen (Deputy Group Commander, 4th FG, 3 seats to the right of Eisenhower). Likely discussing Fighter cover for D-Day. Doolittle, Blakeslee and Spaatz as well are in the picture.pic.twitter.com/48KNPOOhNi
