It had too small a tail: something Gen Yeager discovered in 1953! Spaceshipone: 1st test pilot refused to go up the required 2nd time it was so squirrelly due to too small a tail. Also required to have a passenger.They didn't:had a sack of potatoes so no one screaming in the back

Also: The wording had to be precise to accommodate Paul Allen's gift: 1st plane to go into space not pd for by gov't. However, it was:your taxpayer dollars did pay for it. They got a tax deduction. Museum promised SS1 would go into Dulles museum w/in 5 yrs w/mother ship.It hasn't
