1944 - US gave us water G-suits to test out. By end of mission, water at our ankles.Kicked a rudder, sounded like 2 active folks in a waterbed - whole lot of sloshing going on.

I can see the thinking behind it as water is incompressible, however there is a weight penalty, not to mention the ditching hazards!
