  I think we need both manned and unmanned missions. the argument could be made that manned exploration is a needless risk of human life, but if we can find ways to do it safely, there is no greater accomplishment.

  If you mean that NASA in particular should only do un-manned, I agree. They do it very well. Leave manned missions to private companies which are kicking the old contractor-government model's butt.

  I always felt comfortable on a flight when there is a pilot in his 50’s who has earned his wings in the military. Just my opinion.
